Two men faced criminal charges after police said they found meth-making materials on property in rural Maquoketa, Iowa.

A search warrant was executed on a property in the 16000 block of 85th Street, northwest of Maquoketa, on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 according to Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy Brandon Beck.  Investigators from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Scott County Sheriff’s Office, Muscatine County Drug Task Force and Iowa Department of Narcotics Enforcement found “multiple items used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine,” Beck said.

Steven Van Hecke, 50, of Maquoketa, was arrested and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine.  He was held in the Jackson County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash-only bond.

Police also charged 21-year-old Alexander Caes with conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine.  Caes was held in the Jackson County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash-only bond.

“The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed on others involved in the investigation,” Deputy Beck said.
