Several miles of I-74 are undergoing improvements, which is bringing traffic down to one lane.
The work on I-74 was happening south of I-80 Wednesday, April 22, 2015, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.
McCarthy Improvement Company is working on a 14-mile section of I-74 that spans from north of I-80 to south of the Illinois Route 81 interchange in Andover, Illinois. The company was working on concrete repairs to the pavement, as well as bituminous overlay and resurfacing the roadway.
While work is being done, traffic will be down to one lane.
Improvements to that span of roadway were expected to happen over the summer.
