Hundreds of runners and walkers took part in the annual Gilda's Run for Laughs 5k. The participants were greeted with temperatures in the upper 60s and overcast skies Saturday, April 18 as they ran through the District of Rock Island.

The 2015 theme was "Beat the Blues," and the crowd of 40 did just that, raising around $30,000 for Gilda's Club of the Quad Cities.

"One hundred percent of the proceeds today go to Gilda's Club to help provide free emotional and social support to individuals and families affected by any type of cancer diagnosis here in the Quad Cities so all the money remains local," said Paige Nagle with Gilda's.

News 8's Jim Mertens emceed the event, and others at WQAD were out running among the crowd.
