Local Girl Scouts launched a campaign aimed at expanding and renovating an area camp.
The "Outdoor Odyssey" campaign launched Saturday, April 11, 2015 by the Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois. They want to see improvements made to their New Liberty, Iowa camp, according to a statement from the organization.
On their list of improvements is to build a new climate-controlled lodge with adjoining cabins to use all year. They also would like to update the equestrian area, remodel the pool house, and improve entry road and parking.
At the event Saturday, they announced that they had raised $1,629,972 of their $3 million goal. Saturday's campaign launch was done in an effort to reach their goal.
