A threat posted on social media prompted a police investigation at the high school in Annawan, Illinois.

“Late Friday (April 10, 2015) evening, district officials were notified by law enforcement of a threat, posted on social media, which was later determined to involve our district,” said a statement issued by Annawan CUSD Superintendent Joe Buresh.  “The district, in conjunction with law enforcement, immediately took steps to investigate the matter and to make sure that neither students nor staff were placed in harm’s way.”

Buresh later confirmed he met with state police Monday, April 13, as a follow-up to the investigation, and he confirmed the FBI was not involved at any time.

“(T)he district is confident that there will be no interruptions or cause for concern,” Buresh said.

Classes were held as scheduled Monday, April 13, and Buresh characterized it as a “very normal school day,” with no disruptions.
