The Quad Cities community showed their generosity to area kids as they donated to the Children's Therapy Center of the Quad Cities during its annual telethon.

The telethon has been 33 years in the running and was held in WQAD's studio's Sunday, April 12, 2015. It started at 11 a.m. and wrapped up at 5 p.m.

The fundraiser wrapped up with a donation total of $215,190.

The money raised from the telethon goes to provide physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and feeding therapy to children in the area who suffer from developmental disabilities, according to George McDoniel, Executive Director of the Children's Therapy Center of the QC.

"We don't exist without the caring and generosity of local people," McDoniel said. "We're a local program serving local children and we would not be able to survive without the support of our community. Every year, the Quad Cities community and the surrounding counties step up, provide us with the means so that we can help local kids."

The Children's Therapy Center offers medical services for kids who suffer from developmental disabilities.

Regardless of a family's financial situation, children can be accepted into the center. More than half of the children who benefit from the center's services would not be able to do so without the help of the fundraiser.
