Gluba: ‘Inappropriate’ for Klipsch to Make a Campaign Announcement During Holy Week

Davenport Mayor Bill Gluba said he through it was ‘inappropriate’ for a person to announce their candidacy during Holy Week.

Davenport resident Frank Klipsch III was expected to announce whether he's running for mayor on Thursday, April 2, 2015.

Klipsch III had worked at the Scott County YMCA for the past 27 years, until he retired at the end of 2014. He was their CEO for 25 of those years. He and his family are waiting until a press conference Thursday evening, to announce whether he's running for mayor. Klipsch's son, Frank Klipsch IV is now the Executive Director at the Davenport YMCA. Klipsch IV said Thursday, his dad loves the Quad City community, and he's looking for a way to 'channel his passion' now that he's retired.

"There are a lot of things out there," Klipsch IV said Thursday in response to his father's plans.  "Whatever he chooses to do, he's going to find the way that really benefits the most people around here in our community."

In response to the press conference, Davenport Mayor Bill Gluba said that it was 'inappropriate'  for a person to announce their candidacy during Holy Week.

Gluba also said he plans to run for mayor again. He has not made that announcement official, though.
