A motorcyclist died after colliding with a car in Clinton, Iowa.

The crash happened when a motorcyclist and a driver in a 2003 Chevy Cavalier collided in the 1100 block of South 14th Street Wednesday, April 1, 2015, according to a statement from Sgt. Richard Mojeiko with the Clinton Police Department.

Mojeiko said the Chevy was pulling out of Ascentra Credit Union shortly before 5 p.m.  when a motorcyclist, heading south in the outside lane of the roadway, struck the car’s rear driver-side door.

Both the motorcyclist and the driver were taken to an area hospital, according to the statement. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to the Clinton Police Department the motorcyclist was identified as 36-year-old Justin Kane.
