The City of Davenport offered a $1,000 signing bonus to people hired and committed to being a transit operator there.

“The bonus will consist of $500 upon hire and $500 after the successful completion of a six-month probationary period,” said a post to the city’s informational website, Davenport Today.

In addition to the signing bonus, “The salary for this position has been substantially increased,” the post said. The pay range for transit operators was between $12.31 and $24.48 per hour according to the city’s job opportunities web page. The page only listed part-time/on call transit operator positions as of Monday morning, March 30, 2015.

Candidates were expected to have a clean driving record and a commercial driver’s license.

Transit operator candidates were expected to sign a one-year commitment to the city at the time they were hired.
