Dock Developer Asks for 3 Month Extension on Demolition

The building that housed the former Dock restaurant is expected to be demolished by the end of the summer of 2015.

Developer Todd Raufeisen has asked for an eleven week extension on demolition of the old Dock Restaurant, he told News 8 on Friday, March 27, 2015.

In place of the former Dock restaurant, three restaurants were set to move in. Raufeisen told us Friday that a fourth restaurant will be put on the third floor, or the sky deck, but he would not say what restaurant is coming in.

In Raufeisen’s extension-request letter, he said that the restaurant group that plans to bring in the new restaurants is in the process of designing those spaces. He also says more design work needs to be done before the building can be torn down.

According to the city's newsletter Davenport Today, financing is another reason for the extension request. Raufeisen told us Friday, the city wants a letter from the bank, saying that he has full funding for the development before demolition begins.

If the project moves forward with Raufeisen, then the developer of the new Dock project will reimburse the City for demolition costs.

“Should the project not move forward, the City will remove the blighted structure with uncommitted downtown TIF bonds,” said the newsletter’s report.

Whichever way it goes, the building will be removed by the end of the summer.
