More than 200 women spent time in the Quad Cities learning about their past, present and future impact on the country’s agriculture field.

The group was part of a regional conference held at Jumer’s Casino in Rock Island, Illinois on Thursday and Friday, March 19 and 20, 2015.

Speakers at the event talked about investing, budgeting, living expenses, and how the global market can affect local crops.  Those who planned the event said it could help people understand the big picture of farming, more than just planting and harvesting.

"It's coming to things like this and thinking about economics and what's happening in China and what that has to do with our grain prices here on the farm and what that means for us 5 years down the road,” said Fulton County Farmer Holly Spangler. “And what that means for lenders right now and you know, the money we have invested and how we're running our farms."

The 2015 event featured a live podcast called “Confessions of a Farm Wife.”
