The Polar Plunge in the Quad Cities is nearing and organizers are looking for participants.

The plunge is coming to Rock Island, Illinois on Sunday, March 22 at Jumer’s Casino & Hotel.  The brave jumpers will be jumping into Wicks Lake.

All plungers are required to collect a minimum of $75 in donations to benefit the Special Olympics Illinois Western athletes. The fundraising proceeds benefit athletes with intellectual disabilities in seven area counties.

“The Rock Island Polar Plunge is the last of 22 plunges that benefitted Special Olympics Illinois this year,” said a statement from the organization.

Check-in begins at 1 p.m. the plunge begins at 2 p.m. and an after party will follow.

Participants are encouraged to wear costumes and form teams.  Plungers will get a t-shirt and free lunch for participating.
