Neighbors say lights at Rock Island FedEx facility are a big problem

There’s bright and then there’s too bright.

There's bright and then there's too bright.  That's what some neighbors are saying about the lights around a recently built FedEx facility in Rock Island, Illinois. They're asking the city to step in.

Kenny Bush Farms says their newest neighbor FedEx is becoming a problem.

"I raise soybeans right across the fence from them and I'm not sure they'll ripen," said Kenny Bush.

It's not what's inside they're concern about, but what's outside surrounding the building. When the sun goes down, the lights come on.

"If you're driving down the road you go,'Whoa,' you know, it's almost dangerous because it almost is a traffic problem," said Maryland Bush.

The lights shining on their soybeans could impact the way they grow.

"We know through past experience what it has done to our ability to harvest in the fall," said Maryland.

Earlier this week a neighbor stood before the Rock Island city council with his concerns. One neighbor took his concerns to the Rock Island City Council, showing them a recommendation letter from engineering consultants at KJWW, which says FedEx should re-aim their lights.

The city says they are going to look into the matter and see if FedEx is violating city ordinance. We reached out to FedEx to see if they're doing anything about it, and they told us they've been in contact with the city to address those concerns.
