Andy Yohe is giving up his Olympic dream and trading it in to help others find their dream home.
Yohe, is a two-time gold medalist who competed in the last three Winter Paralympics for sled hockey. He grew up in the Quad Cities and played hockey as a young boy until he lost his legs when he was 16-years-old after a train accident. He said he is retiring from sled hockey and taking up real estate as his new passion.
Yohe just started as a real estate agent at Ruhl & Ruhl Realtors in Bettendorf. He said while he will miss competing, he's looking forward to settling back into his roots.
"I'll miss the competition and being around my teammates and traveling all over the country," said Yohe. "Those things are obviously really hard to replace but I've made a lot of new friends in real estate already and I'm looking forward to meeting new clients and moving forward."
Yohe also said it will be nice to see his family more and not have to be on the road so much.
"Before, I was having to leave anywhere from five to ten days at a time and being away from them all the time and being out of town was definitely hard on myself and my family, so it's great just to be back in the Quad Cities and see my kids everyday," said Yohe.
Yohe said he's only been at his new job for a week and already has his first listing.
