Pleasant Valley basketball is heading to the championship game after defeating Hoover in the semifinal.

The Pleasant Valley Spartans battled the Hoover Huskies at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines on Friday, March 13, 2015. It was a hard-fought game that led the Spartans into the state championship.

The Spartans held a lead over the Huskies and 23-18 showed on the scoreboard as they headed into the 2nd half.

By the end of the 3rd quarter Pleasant Valley continued holding their lead at 34-29 over Hoover.

The score’s gap closed up pretty tight in the last quarter when Hoover caught up 34-33 with just over four minutes left in the game. The teams wrapped up the game with a two-point gap, reaching 39-37 with 31 seconds left.

At eight seconds left in the game, Hoover hit a three-pointer before calling a time out.  The game finished up with a final of 42-40.

Pleasant Valley will play North Scott Saturday at 8:05 p.m. Saturday in Des Moines for the Class 4A State Championship.
