North Scott, Iowa basketball is moving on after a Quarterfinal win against Waukee.

The Lancers took on the Warriors Wednesday afternoon, March 11, 2015 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. The two battled in a Quarterfinal match for a spot in the 4A State Semifinal.

North Scott held a solid lead right from the get-go; the 1st quarter ended 15-7, Lancers in the lead. That same trend appeared in the 2nd quarter with the Lancers up 23-17 by the end of the first half.

Starting out the second half, the Lancers built up a 10 point lead at 27-17 before ending the 3rd quarter at 41-31 over Waukee.

The Warriors started closing the gap in a hard-fought 4th quarter. With just over five minutes left, a timeout paused the clock at a score of 45-39, Lancers. North Scott remained in the lead, but Waukee continued to catch up, closing the gap to 47-43 with just about four minutes left in the game. The Lancers saw their lead drop to one point ahead, before jumping back up to 49-46.

With just over a minute left in the game, North Scott steals and heads back for a layup, bringing the Lancers’ score up to 57-51.  Another two free throws brought North Scott up 59-51 at just under one minute left.

In the remaining seconds, North Scott wrapped up the game 63-54.

The Lancers will head to the Class 4A State Semifinal against Iowa City West on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
