An eye opening billboard taking a stand against domestic violence popped up in London days before International Women’s Day.

The billboard features the face of an abused woman with cuts and bruises. When a passerby looks at the image, the wounds begin to disappear; the more people that look at the billboard, the more the face returns to normal.

“Often people don’t want to see domestic violence or do something about it because it feels too difficult or they’re worried what they do won’t have any impact,” Chief Executive of Women’s Aid Polly Neate said to HuffPost UK Lifestyle. “They turn a blind eye because of this, leaving women isolated and making it even harder for them to get help.”

Women’s Aid, a national domestic violence charity in Bristol, England teamed up with WCRS, a nonprofit organization based out of London to develop the ad.

“We want to show this International Women’s Day that anyone can ‘Make it Happen,’ and everyone can help put a stop to domestic violence, by noticing it, by donating to Women’s Aid, and to making sure their communities don’t tolerate the sexist attitudes that lead to abuse,” Neate said, according to the report.

International Women’s Day is Sunday, March 8.
