Missing Davenport woman is still a mystery

Police say a sighting of a missing Davenport woman turned out to be false, and say they still don’t know what has happened to Beth Hurst.

Police say a sighting of a missing Davenport woman turned out to be false, and say they still don't know what has happened to Beth Hurst.

"We have no answers. We continue to follow up on leads. We have interviewed family and friends," said Capt. Dale Sievert, with the Davenport Police Department.

Hurst was last seen leaving her home on foot near Central Park and Genesis East on February 21st.

Early reports suggested Hurst may have left to stay with family in South Carolina. Police say they don't believe that is the case.

"We have spoken to relatives throughout the country that we are aware of and we are being told she is not there," he said.

Last week, there was a call about a possible sighting of the 42-year old hospital worker, but that went nowhere.

"I know there was a possible sighting that turned out not to be her," Capt. Sievert said.

Police have checked records at local bus terminals and the airport. She has not used her credit card.

Right now, police don't know if she has left on her own, is a victim of foul play, or may have hurt herself.

"We're wishing and hoping for a happy ending," said Capt. Sievert.

Hurst is 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighs 135 pounds, and wears glasses. She has shoulder length auburn hair and brown eyes.

She was last seen wearing a camel colored sweater, yoga pants and a dark maroon coat and boots.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Davenport Police Department at 563-326-7979 or 911.
