Wisconsin based Gorman and Company submitted the one and only bid to buy Moline School District's Garfield School. The school is set to close after the 2014-2015 school year.

Gorman and Company also owns the Moline High School Lofts on 15th Street in the city. Gorman and Company has submitted a bid for $75,000 to buy the property. Gorman and Company operates apartment buildings throughout the country. News 8 asked Moline School District Superintendent David Moyer whether he thought Gorman and Company would turn the building into apartments.

"That would be an assumption based on what they've done in the past," Moyer said Monday, February 23, 2015. "But they have not indicated to us their specific plans, so I'm really unaware of any conversations they had with the city about zoning or specifics on what project they may be interested in on that site."

Gorman and Company has not commented on the issue. Moline's Planning and Development Director Ray Forsythe says the company also owns the Enterprise Lofts in the downtown. The Moline School Board could approve the measure at its board meeting Monday night at 6 p.m. at the Coolidge building.
