The Quad City community came together to help a family on a mission.
Nine-year-old Maggie Dykstra has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy and epilepsy. Maggie is growing too heavy for her family to carry her up and down the stairs in their home so her family is hoping to build a room for her in their home.
Maggie’s Minions Musical Bingo was held Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Main Event in Bettendorf to help raise money for the family.
The group, Maggie’s Minions, is a bunch of family friends trying to raise $70,000 for the project.
There was bingo, a silent auction, and raffles at the event.
"We just are really excited with the community's support," said event organizer Jana Michaelis. "It's just been really cool, the people that have reached out to help."
Through various fundraisers, the family has collected $9,000.
If you would like to donate checks can be deposited into a fund at Bank Orion in Bettendorf, Iowa at 1855 Middle Road. Checks can be made payable to: “For the Benefit of Maggie Dykstra.”
