An East Moline, Illinois woman faced criminal charges after she allegedly hit a one-year-old she cared for at her in-home daycare.

An East Moline, Illinois woman faced criminal charges after she allegedly hit a one-year-old she cared for at her in-home daycare.

Roxanne Coulson, 60, operated a licensed child care at her home according to East Moline Police Lt. Darren Gault.  Coulson was accused of hitting a one-year-old child in the face and neck.  The child was reportedly getting ongoing medical care; a report was filed with the Department of Children and Family Services, and East Moline Police investigators were contacted January 29, 2015.

DCFS oversees daycare licensing in Illinois.  Online records showed Coulson was licensed to care for up to eight children in her home, she calls her business Coulson Family Daycare and had been a child care provider for five years.

Court records showed Coulson was arrested and charged with felony aggravated battery of a child, and misdemeanor endangering the life and health of a child, for an incident alleged to have happened January 28.

Coulson was held in the Rock Island County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond.
