Ross’ Restaurant to stay in Bettendorf

After five years of searching, Ross’ Restaurant owners say they found the ideal relocation spot in Bettendorf.

After they reached a deal to sell their location to make way for a new I-74 bridge, faithful diners can rest easy knowing Ross’ Restaurant will continue to live in Bettendorf.

Ross’ Restaurant spent nearly 50 of its 75 years at the base of the 74 Bridge. The restaurant’s owners signed a deal agreeing to leave that location by August 1, 2015 to make way for the new bridge project. They spent five years searching for the right location, and considered spots in Davenport and Moline, but now say they’ll stay in Bettendorf.

“Ross' Restaurant will move to the former Frank's Pizza location on 18th Street and 53rd Avenue in Bettendorf early this summer,” said a statement from Melissa Freidhof-Rodgers on January 29, 2015. “After 5 years of searching for a new location on both sides of the river, we are so pleased to know our restaurant has a new home. It's extra special that we found a location in our home city of Bettendorf. We look forward to a grand opening early this summer and will be ready to serve all of those Bix and RAGBRAI diners coming through in July!”

A manager with Frank's Pizza tells News 8, its closure had nothing to do with Ross' Restaurant needing a new home. The pizza joint closed earlier this month.
