A Rock Island teen faces criminal charges in connection with a winter crash that killed a girl from Eldridge.
Marissa Ertz, 18, died of injuries she suffered when the van she was riding in drove into the path of a UPS tractor-trailer at about 1 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2014. The van was broadsided.
Now the van driver, 19-year-old Conner Speer of Rock Island, faces charges in connection with the crash.
Speer was charged with homicide by vehicle, operating while intoxicated and running a red light according to Davenport Police Captain Dale Sievert.
Jail records showed Speer had been in the Scott County jail on felony drug charges since December 2, 2014.
