Iowans have some of the best driving records in the country.
All 50 states and Washington, D.C. were compared on a list of Worst Drivers. Out of all the states, Iowa was ranked 50, according to a report by CarInsuranceComparison.com.
The ranking was based on the following 5 items:
- Fatalities per 100 million vehicle miles traveled
- The number of traffic crashes that involved disobeying traffic signals, not wearing seatbelts, and driving with an invalid license
- Drunk driving
- Speeding
- Careless driving
Minnesota was ranked number 51, making them the best drivers in the country.
Montana and South Carolina tied for the No. 1 rank. Montana ranked the worst in the drunk driving category. South Carolina ranked the worst for their fatalities rate.
Illinois’ ranking was a middle-of-the-road No. 20.
