Two high schools in Davenport, Iowa, were placed on external lockdown after an alleged bomb threat was made.
Parents and patrons were notified by email alerts (read the alert below) that Davenport Central High School at 1120 North Main Street, and Davenport West High School at 3505 West Locust Street, were placed on “external lockdown” just before 12:30 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2015.
The email said the lockdown was implemented “due to an anonymous external bomb threat for those buildings.”
A spokesperson for the Davenport Community School District said the threats were made by phone calls received at each of the schools between 11:30 and 11:45 a.m.
Students and staff are allowed to move freely within the buildings, but no visitors are permitted to enter the buildings during an external lockdown.
Parents were asked to avoid going to the buildings. Police were at both schools.
In an email update sent to parents at about 2 p.m., school officials said police determined the threat had passed and the lockdown had been lifted as of 1:20 p.m.
