A Marshalltown, Iowa man faced criminal charges after he allegedly threw gasoline on his girlfriend and her mother, then set the two women on fire.
After they got a report of a domestic disturbance at a home in the 100 block of North 4th Street just before 1 a.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2015, police arrived to see a woman whose clothes were on fire as she ran from the house according to our sister station WHO-TV.
Witnesses said 24-year-old Esperidion “Eddie” De Los Santos had doused the woman and her mother with gasoline and then set them on fire. The fire also spread to the interior of the apartment the three shared.
Both women were taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
Police arrested De Los Santos after they found him hiding in a nearby car according to the Des Moines Register.
De Los Santos was charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of willful injury, aggravated domestic abuse and first-degree arson. He was held in the Marshall County Jail.
