Autopsy shows Davenport man died of gunshot to the chest

A Davenport man’s death was ruled a homicide after a roommate found his body in their home on Emerald Drive.

A Davenport man's death was ruled a homicide after a roommate found his body in their home on Emerald Drive.

His roommate found the body of 32-year-old Justin Jovan McBride in a home they shared in the 1700 block of Emerald Drive at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2015.

An autopsy conducted the next day helped police confirm McBride's identity.

Preliminary results from the autopsy also determined McBride died from a gunshot to the chest, according to police Captain Dale Sievert.

One neighbor, who spoke to WQAD but requested not to be identified, said he did not hear a gunshot and didn't know his neighbor had died until the police arrived on the scene.

Davenport Police were investigating the death as a homicide, Sievert said.  Anyone with information was asked to contact police.
