After several inches of snow fell overnight, most roads were still in rough shape early Tuesday morning, January 6, 2015.

Initial reports indicated a wreck involving about 10 vehicles was reported on the Iowa-bound side of the I-74 bridge just before 7 a.m.  Initial reports indicated three vehicles were on the bridge, and the rest on the exit ramp to State Street.  Traffic was moving, albeit very slowly, across the bridge just before 7:30 a.m.

Bettendorf Police later said there were six separate wrecks in a ten-minute span of time, all just north of the bridge near Grant Street on I-74.  A pickup truck reportedly left the scene, so one of the crashes will be considered a hit-and-run.  No injuries were reported in any of the wrecks there.

Iowa-bound traffic remained slow as of 8:30 a.m. but authorities said all lanes of I-74 were open at that time.

Only one lane was clear on many multi-lane thoroughfares and interstates in and around the Quad Cities.  Slick conditions prevailed, even on lanes that had been plowed and treated overnight.  Travel speeds continued to be slower than usual throughout the morning.
