FBI warns Arkansas, Tennessee police about possible terror plot

The FBI is reportedly warning police about a threat to blow up a bridge along the Mississippi River.

The FBI is reportedly warning police about a possible threat to blow up a bridge along the Mississippi River that connects Arkansas and Tennessee.

According to FOX13 in Memphis, Tennessee, the FBI’s Memphis Division issued the warning about the anonymous threat to blow up the Memphis-Arkansas Bridge sometime in December. The threat is a possible Islamic state terror plot targeting the I-55 Bridge.

ABC News reported that FBI spokesman Christopher M. Allen said Tuesday, December 23, 2014 that the threat was "unsubstantiated."

“According to an anonymous complainant, as of December 2014, ISIS instructed an ISIS member, a presumed [U.S. person] in Memphis, with a direct order to blow up the Memphis-Arkansas bridge on an unknown date, activating ISIS terror cells in the United States," the warning reads, FOX13 reported

The threat is being investigated, according to the report.

Supervisory Special Agent Joel Siskovic, spokesman for the FBI said “there is no actionable intelligence regarding an attack on the bridge.”

Siskovic said they take every threat seriously and make sure to keep all law enforcement partners informed.

The bridge is located about 400 miles south of the Quad Cities.
