Fire heavily damaged a trailer at a mobile home park in Colona, Illinois.

The fire was reported just before 10:30 a.m. at Kershaw Mobile Home Park, which is at 605 West 1st Avenue in rural Colona.

Firefighters from several area departments responded.

Two people were inside the trailer when the fire started, and they escaped safely according to Colona Fire Chief John Swan.   The residents were getting help from the American Red Cross.

A total of three adults and one child were receiving assistance from the Red Cross after the fire. A spokesperson from the organization said everyone affected will have a safe place to stay, food, clothing and emotional support.

They continued to search for a cat that was missing after the fire was extinguished.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.

No injuries were immediately reported.
