Milder-than-usual conditions inspired Davenport to open Duck Creek Golf Course in mid-December.
“Davenport Parks and Recreation invites the community to take advantage of the slightly warmer winter weather,” said a statement from the city’s parks and rec department.
They were offering first-com, first-served tee times from Thursday, December 11 through at least Sunday, December 14, 2014. Rates were $19 including a cart or $10 if you walk the course.
Temperatures on those days were forecast to be in the 40s and low 50s. Normal average temperatures are in the low 30s in mid-December in the Quad Cities area according to the National Weather Service.
The pro shop, restrooms and concessions might not be available because of limited winter staffing.
