Police blocked the road as hazmat workers were called when hundreds of gallons of diesel fuel reportedly leaked from two semis in Moline, Illinois.
The spill was reported at the intersection of 14th Street and 6th Avenue just before 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2014.
First responders were focused on preventing the spilled diesel fuel from entering nearby storm drains.
Initial reports indicated 600 gallons were possibly spilled from a crane truck and a beer truck. A witness said the trucks had collided.
Police were staged on 6th Avenue, blocking it to thru traffic between 12th and 15th streets while crews worked to collect the spilled fuel. An environmental cleanup company arrived to help with cleanup just before 11:30 a.m.
No injuries were immediately reported.
Moline officials said cleanup work was ongoing, and that 15th Street would be closed to traffic between 6th Avenue and River Drive until the end of the business day Thursday, December 4.
