It was a violent night in the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson, Missouri after the announcement that a grand jury will not indict a white police officer for the fatal shooting of a black teenager.

The grand jury's decision that Officer Darren Wilson was protecting himself when he shot and killed 18-year old Michael Brown in August resulted in riots and looting in sections of the northern St. Louis suburb.

At least 12 businesses along West Florissant Avenue were set on fire.  The fires stretched along West Florissant all the way to I-270.

Our sister station in St. Louis, FOX2 news, reports 29 protestors were arrested overnight.   No word on injuries among demonstrators.

There were a few injuries among officers.

One University police officer was shot in the arm, but that appears to be unrelated to Ferguson protests.
