The Red Cross held its 7th annual Run for the Red 5k.
The race took place Sunday, November 23, 2014 at the Paul Skeffington Memorial Trail in DeWitt, Iowa.
More than 100 runners and walkers showed up, despite the rain, to participate.
“Runners are a hearty bunch so we're glad to have everyone. Not the ideal conditions, nice, cold rain but we'll take what we get," said Race Director Steve Schmit.
The Executive Director, Amber Wood said it was "an improvement" from last year, where it was very cold and windy.
David Zimmer of DeWitt was the overall winner finishing with a time of 17:17.5. Paloma Goncalves Oliveira of Clinton was the top female finisher with a time of 23:02.4.
All the money from the event benefits Red Cross Mission services.
