Make your own quick and easy heart-healthy bruschetta

Baguette bread and a few simple ingredients are all you need to create this impressive, easy recipe for company, snack or even a light lunch!

Bruschetta Ingredients:

2 cups chopped ripe tomato

1 cup chopped red onion

5 large basil leaves, finely sliced

2 ounces extra virgin olive oil

1 tsp. kosher salt

1 tsp cracked black pepper

2 ounces shredded parmesan

1 ounce balsamic reduction (syrup)

1 loaf bias-sliced baguette bread

Instructions:

Heat oven to broil.

Combine tomatoes, red onion, basil, salt, pepper and olive oil in a bowl, mixing gently until all ingredients are combined.

Brush sliced baguette with olive oil and broil on high until golden brown (this happens quickly, so watch it closely) then remove from oven

Arrange toasted baguette slices on serving plate.  Top toasted baguette slices with tomato/onion/basil mix.

Top each with shredded parmesan and a drizzle of the balsamic reduction.
