Detectives say a 35-year-old man used someone underage to help him rob, assault and threaten to kill another person in Muscatine, Iowa.

William Lee Hartman was accused of theft that happened in the 200 block of Walnut Street at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2014.

“The complaints further allege that Hartman used a juvenile accomplice to commit the offense and that a knife was displayed and the victim was threatened with being killed,” said a statement from Muscatine County Attorney Alan Ostergren.

Hartman was arrested Thursday, November 20, Ostergren said.  Hartman was charged with first-degree robbery and with using a juvenile to commit a public offense.

Ostergren did not indicate the age of the juvenile, or whether that person faced any charges.

Hartman was held in the Muscatine County Jail.
