Eight students were taken to a hospital after the school bus they were riding in overturned in rural Wapello, Iowa.
The bus was southbound on County Road X61 near H Avenue when the driver lost control at about 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, November 18, 2014, according to a statement from the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office. The bus went off the right side of the road and overturned.
Eight of the ten students on board were taken by ambulance to a hospital in Muscatine, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, the statement said. The bus was carrying elementary and high school students.
Investigators were continuing to try to determine what caused the driver to lose control of the bus.
Police said the driver, a 58-year-old man from rural Columbus Junction, was not charged in connection with the wreck.
