Clinton schools are attracting national attention with recent innovations in digital learning.

Superintendent Deb Olson will participate in a White House summit with 100 education leaders on Wednesday.

They hope to meet with President Obama and Education Secretary Arne Duncan.

Education is evolving at Clinton High School these days.

That's where students work in the Innovation Room.

Instead of desks, they sit at round tables. They study everything from music to math.  It's making the most of technology in the digital age.

"The Innovation Room is actually a microcosm of what's going on in the world of work today," said Dr. Olson.

Inspired by the University of Iowa, the concept is catching on in Clinton.  The district's new middle school will also feature it.

And the Innovation Room will be center stage at Wednesday's White House summit on being future ready.

"The great thing about this particular classroom is that you can bring anybody in, or you can remote out anywhere you want to be on the web," Dr. Olson said.

The Innovation Room enhances traditional classrooms.  It's a way to promote real-life collaboration.  It's really education for the future.

Just like its new middle school, Clinton is showing that smaller districts can prosper, even on a shoestring budget.

By sharing its experiences, the district could help others to succeed.

"My take-away is being able to meet with other people who have other ideas about how you can move this along," she concluded.

Technology that's already inspiring these students to aim for the top in Clinton.
