The first widespread snowfall of the QC area hit Saturday, November 15, 2014.
Snow headed in from the east and started accumulating in the Quad Cities around 4 p.m., covering some western counties earlier.
As the National Weather Service forecast, roads became slick as snow gathered on the roadways. The Illinois Department of Transportation said around 5 p.m. Saturday that I-280 in the Moline/Rock Island area was 75% covered in snow and ice.
Multiple cars were involved in crashes and situations where they slid off roadways, according to Eastern Iowa Fireground's Facebook.
