A man faced criminal charges after hidden cameras were found in tanning rooms at a gym in Moline, Illinois.
Moline Police said a gym employee found the a camera in a tanning room at Planet Fitness at 3624 Avenue of the Cities on Wednesday, November 5, 2014. A second camera was found in another room the next day.
Police said they arrested 27-year-old Trent Hamer on Friday, November 7, 2014; online records show that Hamer was arrested and charged with felony unauthorized videotaping.
Police said they found more evidence when the searched Hamer's home in Moline.
Investigators were continuing to try to identify victims, and to contact those victims as they were identified.
Hamer was reportedly a member of the gym, not an employee. A Planet Fitness spokesperson said Hamer's membership was terminated.
"At Planet Fitness, the safety and privacy of our members is extremely important to us. As such, the franchise owner is working very closely with the local authorities on this matter, and we appreciate their swift action in this case," the spokesperson said.
Court records showed Hamer's next court appearance in connection with the charges was set for November 18 in Rock Island County Court.
Jail records showed Hamer was released after posting 10% of the $25,000 bond.
