Of all registered voters in the Quad Cities, a little less than half turned out to vote.
In Rock Island County there are 93,478 registered voters. A total of 45,486 ballots were cast – roughly 49%.
In Scott County there are 127,378 registered voters and 61,879 ballots were cast – again, roughly 49%.
In the 2012 Presidential Election 65,442 ballots were cast, representing roughly 71% of the Rock Island County’s registered voters.
In Scott County, 90,402 ballots were cast. This was a representation of nearly 71% of the county’s registered voters.
According to a report by CNN, somewhere between 55% and 65% of Americans registered to vote will take part in a presidential election. In a midterm election, there will be between 39% and 42% of voters heading to the polls. The Quad Cities has surpassed both those calculations in 2012 Presidential Election and the 2014 Midterm election on Tuesday, November 4.
