Amendments to the state constitution that prohibit voter discrimination and strengthen rights of crime victims both passed in Illinois.
With about 90% of all precincts reporting, 79% of all Illinois votes favored a constitutional amendment that adds Marsy’s Law, which expands the rights of Illinois crime victims and allows those victims to enforce their rights in court.
The other amendment to the state constitution that voters approved would block any law that affects the right to vote based on a person’s race, color, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation or income. With 90% of precincts reporting, that measure passed 72% to 28%.
