A national organization is sending out postcards to try to shame people into voting.

Americans for Prosperity sends people a postcard in the mail with their voting history on the back. They follow-up that postcard with another one, displaying the person's name and their neighbors' names, along with all of their voting history as well.

The Illinois State Director for Americans for Prosperity said they are targeting people who sometimes vote and sometimes don't, and are trying to encourage them to stand with their neighbors.

However many people who are targeted for these postcards feel it's overstepping boundaries, and that their voter history should be kept private.

"I don't think that's right. If you don't want to vote, if you don't feel like voting, if you're too old to get to the polls, that's your private business," said Moline resident, Jim Ducey.

"It pretty much is no one's business. I mean it is your right but you shouldn't have a report card on who's doing what," said another Moline resident, Trudy Knaack.

Like it or not, the Americans for Prosperity Illinois' Director said voter history is public information, and they are well within their rights to distribute it.
