Two former Davenport men were ordered to serve time in prison after planning a robbery that turned into a shootout.

A group of men, 28-year-old Louis Warren Jr., 32-year-old John Louis Hodges, and Arthur Allen Jr., planned to rob planned to rob Alexander Hubbard, Sr. in October of 2011, according to prosecutors.

On October 17 the three got into Hodges’ car and drove to Hubbard’s home. Hodges bought marijuana from Hubbard, and as he left, Warren and Allen burst into the home and gunfire erupted, according to a statement from U.S. States Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt.

A shot fired by one of the intruders hit 20-year-old Demetrius Lewis Jr., who was in the home at the time,  in the abdomen, according to the statement. Hubbard fired a shot that hit Warren in the abdomen.

Warren and Allen ran out of the house; Hodges dropped Warren off near a Davenport hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.   Lewis was taken by ambulance to a hospital where he later died.

Hubbard was sentenced in 2012 to 8 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.  Allen pleaded guilty to attempted interference with commerce by robbery, and was scheduled to be sentenced in federal court November 20, 2014.

Warren and Hodges were sentenced Thursday, October 23, 2014 for attempted interference with commerce by robbery.  Warren was sentenced to 14 years in prison and Hodges was sentenced to 16 years in prison.  Both men were ordered to pay monetary restitution to Lewis’ family.  They each will also serve three years of supervised release following their prison terms and pay $100 each to the Crime Victims Fund.
