After a battle with infertility, a woman found out she was not only pregnant, but pregnant with four babies. Months later, she had to undergo surgery to save them.
According to a report by ABC News, Ashley Garnder was 19 weeks into her pregnancy when doctors found that she had a condition called twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, which is when there is an imbalance in the blood supply between a set of twins and the placenta.
According to KFOR, Ashley had surgery on Wednesday, October 22.
After undergoing the surgery, Ashley’s husband Tyson Gardner gave an update on their Facebook page, saying Ashley was doing well and a follow-up ultrasound showed four heartbeats.
The pair had tried unsuccessfully for years to get pregnant, according to previous reports. In July they tried in-vitro fertilization which was successful. They were shocked when they saw during an ultrasound that they were expecting four babies.
