Man sentenced for robbing Clinton National Bank

A former Clinton, Iowa man was sentenced to four years in prison for robbing the Lyons Branch of the Clinton National Bank.

A former Clinton, Iowa man was sentenced to four years in prison for robbing the Lyons Branch of the Clinton National Bank.

Surveillance cameras captured photos of the robbery, reported just before noon Monday, February 25, 2013 at the bank at 1912 North Second Street in Clinton, Iowa.

Shane Roger Hoiland, now 22,used a note to demand money from a teller at the bank.

“The teller placed all of the cash from her drawer in a paper bag, handed it to Hoiland, and he took the money from the teller and left the bank,” said a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The amount of money taken was not disclosed.  Prosecutors said Hoiland was also ordered to repay the money to the bank.

Hoiland was indicted by a federal grand jury in January 2014 in connection with the robbery.

Hoiland was sentenced in federal court Wednesday, October 22, 2014 to 48 months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release.
