Davenport and Dubuque, Iowa each made a list of the ten best riverfronts in America.
The votes were cast as part of a USA Today “10 Best” poll held in the fall of 2014.
Dubuque was listed as fourth-best on the poll, and was touted for its scenic views, walking trail, annual festivals and the Smithsonian-affiliated National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium.
Davenport ranked third-best in the poll for progress on the city’s award-winning RiverVision Plan, which includes several waterfront parks, a band shell and the LED-lit Skybridge.
“This national recognition will help bring us more tourists, more money and more jobs for our local economy,” said a post about the voting on the City of Davenport Facebook page.
In 2013, Davenport’s Modern Woodmen Park was voted best minor league ballpark in America in a similar poll. The view from the park of the Mississippi River and other amenities at the facility helped push it to the top spot.
