It's one of the busiest streets in Davenport and one man claims it's no place for pedestrians. Back in June 2014, he lost his wife in an accident on Brady Street. He says some paint could make it a lot safer.

You've probably driven down Brady Street a million times or even walked across it, but for 64-year-old Karol Heston, Brady Street is where she would take her last steps.

Karol's husband, Mike tracked down surveillance video of that day, when Karol was off running errands. In the video you can see her stopping by a business off Brady Street. She then heads across the street to a restaurant. She was nearly there when the accident happened.

"Collapsed her left lung, fracture her skull, bleeding of the brain," said Mike.

Karol made it to the hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

"No one should get the phone call I got. We would have been married nine years," said Mike.

It's been four months since and now Mike is fighting for something to be done.

"There should be a crosswalk," said Mike.

From Brady Street Stadium the closest crosswalk in either direction, is ten blocks away, leaving pedestrians with no choice.

"There are constantly people crossing there," said Mike.

On game nights, dozens of people have to park across the street from the stadium and when people cross its without a light or crosswalk.

We watched as people tried to make it to the stadium safely, many of them had to break into a run to make it across.

"It's a little dangerous going across the street," said Jim Reynolds who was crossing the street to get to the game.

Mike is now calling on the city to take action.

"My wife was my companion and I just want justice done," said Mike.

We reached out to the Davenport Public Works department for a comment several times but they didn't return our calls.
