In East Moline pavement replacement is scheduled on 12th Avenue between 1st Street and 7th Street. This work will close the roadway.
Starting at 7 a.m. Monday, October 20, workers will be removing an old railroad track that hasn't been used in "many years," according to Dave Lambrecht, the director of Maintenance Services.
"The rail sections and crossing panels are deteriorating and require removal before they become a danger to traffic," Lambrecht said.
Lambrecht said multiple crews will be working on the project, which will speed up the process. The roadway is expected to reopen on or before Thursday morning.
No thru-traffic will be permitted, but local businesses will be allowed access.
