Knox College is celebrating a massive renovation to a historic building on campus.

During Homecoming Weekend, on Saturday, October 11, 2014, the college opened its newly renovated Alumni Hall for students, alumni and staff while they were on campus. The building is 124 years old and cost $12.5 million to renovate.

There is still exterior landscaping and interior furnishing work to be done, pushing the building to be open for use in January 2015.

Knox President Teresa Amott referred to the rededication ceremony as a historic occasion for the campus and for Galesburg.

“Alumni Hall has been transformed into a remarkable, contemporary space that will serve as the gateway to a Knox education for the next generation of students and the gateway to Knox for many visitors to the campus,” she said.

The building includes financial aid, alumni affairs, and admission offices, as well as student centers for community service, research, and global studies. Even those who are not a student or staff member can enjoy the Lincoln Studies Center, a visitors’ center, and museum.

Student Senate President Hiba Ahmed noted that Alumni Hall has resources and opportunities to allow students to achieve success, knowledge, and career readiness “all in one location.”
